Description
Cheese is often considered the perfect partner to wine, but it's not always easy.
Often white wine works just as well as red - find out why when we taste 7 wines from around the world matching them with 7 top quality British cheeses.
We will try a variety of combinations and at the end of the evening you can vote which works best for your palate - a great way to learn what works for you. This event is organised by Cambridgeshire Wine School. Come and discover ideal wines to have with different cheeses.
We'll try award-winning English and Welsh cheeses from a specialist cheesemonger: a goat's cheese, a salty cheddar, a melting brie style, Red Leicester, a crumbly Cheshire, a blue cheese and a smoked cheddar.
You'll learn the principles of cheese and wine pairing so you can get it right the first time when you do it at home.
There will be something for everyone in this special tasting. If you like cheese and you like wine, it is the perfect combination.
The line-up may vary (any good delicatessen seasonally adjusts its range), but is likely to include:
· Goat's cheese with Sancerre (classic match)
· Creamy blue cheese (not too strong) with dessert wine
· Salty cheddar with Bordeaux (why does this one work so well?)
· The famous Baron Bigod soft cheese with Beaujolais
· Cheshire with Pinot Noir
· Smoked cheddar with Chardonnay
· Caerphilly with an English wine
Biscuits for cheese are included (if you need gluten-free simply email info@cambridgeshirewineschool.com to let us know when you book) as well as details of where to source the wines locally if you want to get your hands on the pairings you enjoy the most. Further information available at Cheese and Wine pairings.
If you need a care assistant to accompany, simply email info@cambridgeshirewineschool.com and we will provide an essential companion ticket at zero charge. They will not be able to participate in the wine tasting or have any food, but if you would like a companion to be able to participate, then simply purchase a ticket for them.
