Saturday France vs New World wine tasting with lunch at Selwyn College

Come and enjoy a friendly, informal and fun wine journey through Old World and New World wines in a beautiful Cambridge college.

Starting with Champagne, we'll taste wines from all around the world comparing them with wines made in France using the same grape. No previous tasting experience is needed. A delicious two-course lunch is included.

This event is organised by Cambridgeshire Wine School. On this fascinating course, we will compare wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and other grapes.

We'll sample classic French versions and contrast them with New World countries like Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, South Africa and USA.

You will learn the basics about the main grape varieties of the world and how to taste wine like a professional.

Plus - watch and learn how to open a bottle of sparkling wine using a sword!

We'll be hosted in a beautiful college founded in 1882 set amidst 7 acres of immaculate grounds. Selwyn was one of the first all-male Cambridge University colleges to admit women.

Actors Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander studied at Selwyn alongside students who later became prominent MPs, writers and leading scientists. We'll be hosted in the spacious wood-panelled Harrison room.
